I've also been reading Twilight. It is a bit like reading my old writing, in that my standards are so low I am delighted any time anything is less than awful. Also I am wondering if we are meant to assume that Bella genuinely does like people/want to be accepted, and her bitter/sarcastic thoughts are just a way of covering it up. Cause, uh, I do that.

I am also wondering whether I would have adored it and had it as one of my favourite books if I'd read it before hearing about how jaw-droppingly awful it is. Because I am such a sucker for failicious supernatural romance.

Also, hmm, I very rarely find myself thinking while reading published fiction 'hey, that's a great line' or 'wow, what a turn of phrase' but I think it NEAR-CONSTANTLY when reading fiction. Hmm hmm hmm.

Speaking of Merlin, I am v. fond of calling Morgana 'bloody Morgana' when writing from Arthur's pov/when Arthur is speaking. Idek what that is. Ilher with all my heart, honest. (No, really, I do. She and Gwen are the awesomest. They need to team up and forge a league of awesome. Merlin and Arthur can join if Arthur promises not to talk.)

Also, I have the DESPERATE AND INEXPLICABLE URGE to make Morgana call Arthur 'little brother'. Never mind that according to spin-off book canon Morgana and Arthur are the same age (although calling someone who's only slightly younger than you 'little brother' is a lot more annoying and also something Morgana might do), she's never called him that in the show. WHAT IS WITH YOU, BRAIN?

And this video proves that, much like ALL THE CAST, Katie and Angel have the most adorable relationship ever. All the laughing! And eventually hugging ♥! Who would win a fight between Gwen and Morgana?

(At this point, I'd have to say Morgana. Ilu, Gwen, but for all your skill with a spade, Morgana used to regularly beat Arthur. Unless he was kind of useless as a kid and had to be moulded into the ultimate killing machine he is now? THAT WOULD BE REALLY CUTE. Fic of tiny!Morgana and Arthur with Morgana alternately loling at and awkwardly comforting him over his lack of skillz (with like, a rate of 80/20 mocking/comforting). I WANT THIS. But it is kind of THE OPPOSITE OF KINK and thus I cannot request it on the kink meme.)

SO, IT IS CONFESSION TIME YET AGAIN: I am genuinely terrified of Derren Brown. When I started seeing those adverts he made for The Event I was all 'augh augh he is screwing with my mind BACKTRACKING BACKTRACKING why is everything backwards WHAT IS HE DOING my miiind'.

I am convinced he is somehow putting thoughts in my head through the TV. I am a little worried that he might turn me into a criminal or something. I am seriously considering not letting my family watch the 'glued to the sofa' thing just in case he makes everyone who watches have MURDEROUS RAGE and go on a rampage like in Spoiler when spoilers happened, which also terrified me.

The funny thing is, I used to watch his show (mostly for the 'finding out how he does things' aspect rather than his creepy adorable/hot appeal) all the time.

The depressing thing is although he won't get me through the TV, he will get me through rionaleonhart's journal when she posts about the show DDD:

In other news, I watched Legend of the Seeker 1x08 Denna and 1x09 Puppeteer, and I will post about them if/when I find my notes about better ways to put 'ridiculous face closeness that ALWAYS HAPPENS WHENEVER THERE IS ENMITY ON TV. I was MOST DISTRESSED to discover that Intelligent Design is not, as I believed, hardcore evidence in DNA of some sign that the DNA was a result of a creator (I-I don't know what specifically I was thinking. Something that would probably be referred to as a 'signature'? OR MAYBE JUST AN INSTRUCTION BOOKLET IDEK). SADFACE.

FASCINATING FACTS TIME: When I first looked at the Merlin fandom I was convinced that Merlin/Gaius would be the main pairing, because I had noticed people seemed to be rather fond of Robin/Sheriff in Robin Hood fandom. ONE OF THESE THINGS IS NOT LIKE THE OTHER. What we can learn from this is that I am an idiot.

And, as we outside the cut are speaking of self/self, I think PRETTY MUCH ALL CHARACTERS should have a chance to meet themselves. Just, I know it's not plausible in most situations, but SELF/SELF MAKES EVERYTHING MORE AWESOME, YOU GUYS.

Alex Drake should definitely get the chance to meet herself, because she is ridiculous and it would therefore be amazing. She would repeatedly warn herself about events in the future and freak herself out! (Man, pronoun use in self/self is CONFUSING LIKE WHOA.) She would make comments like 'wow, I'm annoying at this age' and 'oh no, that hasn't happened yet'. Jsfk I do not know Alex Drake well enough to say exactly would she would do, but she would act INCREDIBLY INAPPROPRIATELY and it would be the greatest thing ANYONE HAD EVER SEEN.

Hmmm, other fandoms where meeting oneself would be plausible. In Harry Potter I suppose Harry and Hermione sort of have met themselves, but it doesn't count because there were no awesome conversations. AWESOME CONVERSATIONS ARE A NECESSARY REQUIREMENT.

In Smallville Clark has met himself maybe once? But, like, as a baby, which, dullll. Well. Perhaps if he'd talked to the baby about the wonderful future ahead of it, and about helping people and not to worry it would have edged closer to kind of cool, BUT NO. Another opportunity for awesome missed, Smallville. In Life on Mars Sam met himself, and, uh, reassured himself about his dad, iirc? I...am too jumpy to think of any more examples.
